This NZ Made Fantail Bird Glass Plate is part of a New Zealand Stamp Design series, featuring a black Piwakawaka graphic on clear stippled glass.

Measuring approximately 20cm x 20cm (8' x 8'), the Stamp design pays tribute to New Zealand's past, highlighting some of our national treasures and immortalising them in glass.

The ever cheerful Piwakawaka, or fantail, dances around the New Zealand native forests. It follows explorers, eating the bugs stirred up as you walk along. It is a very cute and friendly little bird that likes to get up nice and close and sing you a song as you go.

This Kiwi made, hand crafted, piece of glass artwork starts off as a plain piece of 5mm glass. It is cut to size and screen printed with its intricate design, including circles of paua shell. The piece is then fired in a kiln at over 800 deg Celsius, where it fuses the glass print into the surface and takes on it's stippled transparent finish.

Included in the box is a stand, designed to designed to complement the glass, ensuring that your Fantail plate is displayed in the grandeur it deserves.
